In Which I'm a Grown-Ass Adult

I’ve been really terrible about blogging, I know. A lot has happened since I last wrote, but none of it felt particularly exciting or blog-worthy, even though it might have been. I’m convinced that no one reads these, no one cares, my writing is terrible. I’ve written at least three posts since my last one in July, but I’ve deleted all of them. I’m trying to get better and to see this more as a record of what’s going on in my life so I can look back on it later.

Since July; I turned 26 in August and I feel weird about it, like it’s still not quite sunk in. I went out with friends for the night and had a good time. I only got some pictures of Dustin and I, I wish I had gotten at least one of the whole group.

Birthday shenanigans at Tinwell

Dustin went on a TDY to Tucson for two weeks. The first three days I got to stretch out as much as I liked in bed, the next nine days I had to sleep in an empty bed. The novelty of having a whole queen sized bed to myself wore off real quick.

My grandpa died at the end of September, and I went to Mexico for the first time in three years. I wish it had been a happier occasion.

Sunrise at Santa Teresa Port of Entry, New Mexico

Last week Dustin and I spent entirely too much money. Friday we went to Alex and Jeremy Trott’s wedding reception and saw Amanda - she’s very pregnant right now. After the reception was over we went for late night sushi (not at Shogun, RIP my youth).

The magical beer
Saturday we went to Oktoberfest at Snowbird Resort with a bunch of our friends; Adam, Yajaira, Daniel, Joshua, and Sahri. Yajaira and I saw a pink beer that we absolutely knew we had to have, but no one seemed to know what tent it was from. We must have spent 20 minutes asking strangers and employees were the magical pink beer was, but no one knew. Turned out it was being served out of the tent that Dustin and I went to when we first got to the festival and I felt kinda dumb. We spent entirely too much money on over priced beer and food but it was an experience and I’m glad we went. Also because of pink beer.

After Oktoberfest we went to Ashley’s new apartment in Sugarhouse. It’s probably the cutest, nicest one bedroom apartment I’ve ever been in. I’m a little jealous, if I’m being honest. We went out to Lake Effect to celebrate her birthday and spent more money than we should have, again. It was worth it to go out and celebrate with her though, we haven’t been able to go out for her birthday since before I left for Alaska in 2013. It was about time.

As of today, October 4th, we are exactly 400 days away from getting married, and I have to start seriously planning soon. I’m unbelievably terrified and excited and panicking about everything that has to get done before the big day. I feel better knowing I won't have to find a caterer, bartender, or a wedding planner - they’re all provided by Log Haven. I feel like those are the big vendors to find, but I’m more likely than not wrong and I will still stress out about all the tiny things. I’ve got an appointment to try on wedding dresses to see what I like next week, I’m freaking out only a little (I’m lying, I’m freaking out a lot).

I’m going to try and be better about writing, because with my terrible memory, I don’t want to forget any of the coming year and after.
