Busy, Busy Weekend

It's been a little over a month since all of mine and Dustin's household belongings were packed up and sent on their way to Utah. They arrived last week on the 21st in Utah, but we were in LA to pick up and drive my car back from the shipping company. We ended up having to wait an extra week and a half to get our things delivered, but it was so worth the wait.

The movers showed up around 9:00 AM Friday, and by 10:00 AM everything was in the apartment and we were ready to unpack. When we initially packed everything up to get shipped I don't think we realized just how much stuff we really had. There are boxes everywhere, the living room is nearly impassable, the bedroom has three or four boxes of just clothes, and there's a big tote of shoes somewhere too. Chances are we're going to have to do this all over again sooner rather than later, either when we decide to move to a bigger apartment, or buy a house. I really, truly, from the very bottom of my heart, hate moving.

I forgot to take pictures of all the boxes in the same place

We unpacked some of our things Friday, mostly just kitchen things, some clothes, the TV, and the Xbox. Since we didn't want to hang around and unpack things just to not have a place to put them, we spent the rest of the day procrastinating.

Dustin had been told about this bar called Lake Effect downtown by his barber (obviously the most trustworthy person for bar recommendations) so we decided to check it out. If there was ever a building/space that I would want to become one with, it's Lake Effect. The space is absolutely gorgeous - velvet drapes, old leather sofas, gas lamps, cut crystal glassware, dim incandescent lights, brick archways, and a blues rock playlist to really complete the vibe. Lake Effect spoke to my very soul, I only wish I had been able to take some decent pictures, words really can't adequately describe it.

Saturday Estephani and I went to the I Do D.I.Y. bridal expo at the Falls Event Center at Trolley Square. We spent the whole morning looking at and talking to vendors, in classes about bridal makeup, dress trends, and sampling cookies and cakes from different bakeries around the valley. We were given so many magazines, cards, pamphlets, and samples, it was almost overwhelming. But it solidified the idea for me that in a year and a half I'm going to get married, and in six-ish months I'm going to have to start planning it all. After reading through some magazines and planning guides, I'm feeling a lot more confident about what needs to get done and when, I don't think I'll be having very many wedding planning nightmares anymore.
