Only Mildly Sorry

I've said it once (actually it's been like four times now, but whatever) and I'll say it again - I am absolutely terrible at blogging. It's been a combination of nothing really notable happening in terms of wedding planning, and also I've forgotten because I have a terrible memory and I'm only mildly sorry.

So here's a brief run down:

We bought our wedding bands in April and they are so gorgeous together. I'm so excited to be able to wear mine.

Every weekend in May was spent doing one thing or another with Dustin before he left on TDY. We rented an Air BnB downtown and went out on a ~wild~ date night (it wasn't, we're boring). We booked our officiant and finalized the ceremony script !!! Dustin got fitted for his tux and he looks so good.

Dustin was supposed to fly out to Italy on the 20th. He didn't. They told him he would fly out the 21st. He didn't again. They hold him he would fly out the 22nd. He actually did leave then. I had to prepare myself and say goodbye with the expectation of not seeing him until August three times. That was one of the most emotionally exhausting weeks in recent memory. At the writing of this post he has already left Italy and gone to Germany for the remainder of the trip. This is the longest we've been apart since we started dating in 2015.

Lake Powell sunset

I went camping at Lake Powell with some friends for Memorial Day weekend, bought new summer clothes, walked around downtown for Pride weekend, spent too much money ($32 bottle of beer was 100% worth it, 10/10 would recommend), got some miscellaneous errands, both wedding and not related, done.

We decided on a design for our invitations which fits with the whole feel of our wedding. They're so beautiful and I'm absolutely in love with them. I spent a week or so going over pricing for different print shops to see who would work best within our budget. I decided on a shop on the 12th, picked up a proof on the 13th, and finalized our order on the 14th. I'm so very excited to use the return address stamp I got on all the envelopes, but not excited to have to address all of them. I'm considering buying transparent address labels and printing all of the addresses to save myself the hand cramps and potential terrible looking handwriting. Either that or recruit/guilt/beg a friend with nice handwriting to write the addresses for me. (if you have nice handwriting and would be okay being compensated in beer/snacks/homemade baked goods let me knoooow)

In my quest for finding wedding vendors, I've found that more companies/people than I care to admit either stop replying after an email or two, or simply don't bother to respond at all. I experienced this in 2016 when looking for a photographer in Alaska to do our engagements, more recently with a bakery, and multiple hair stylists. I honestly don't understand it. The baker wasn't so big a deal, we had already tasted at Granite Bakery a few months ago and the other baker was just to get an idea of what other options there were. The hair stylists really bugged me though. I'm planning on doing my own makeup, but I can't do my own hair to save my life. I think I tried contacting like 4 or 5 different stylists - two messaged me back but stop replying, the others just didn't bother responding at all. I think I've finally found a stylist, fingers crossed she doesn't ghost me as well.
